ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

If the pulp (nerve) of the tooth has been infected by decay then root canal therapy is performed. In this procedure, the infection from within the tooth is removed, cleaned and filled with a medicinal material in milk teeth and an artificial nerve in permanent teeth. Painless and single sitting root canal procedures are performed most of the time. Also, post RCT a crown (cap) best suited is also given.

FAQ

1. Does milk teeth require a root canal treatment?

Ans: Root canal treatment is only done when the infection/ decay has reached the nerve of tooth giving the child pain and/or swelling. It is done in order to avoid premature extraction of milk tooth, thereby preserving space for the permanent tooth to come, assist in speech, aesthetics and eating/chewing food. Also, if not done, the infection may infect the permanent tooth which is forming just below the milk tooth.

2. Does root canal treatment hurt?

Ans: No, it is a painless procedure.
