Tooth Fillings/ Restorations
High quality dental restorative materials are used for filling both the primary and permanent teeth.
DENTAL FILLINGS/ RESTORATION
If the tooth decay has not reached the nerve, it can usually be treated by cleaning the cavity and applying a cement (filling). High quality dental restorative materials are used for filling both the primary and permanent teeth.
For children, we usually use a technique of minimally invasive (no machine is used) and cavity is cleaned. Also, a cement with additional properties is used.
FAQ
1. Is it necessary to get milk teeth filled, they will eventually fall?
Ans: Formation of a cavity is an irreversible process, the only way we can repair it is by cleaning and filling it with a cement. If the cavity of the milk tooth is not cleaned and filled as soon as it is detected, it may reach the nerve of the tooth leading to pain and a more invasive procedure like root canal/ extraction. Also, all the milk teeth do not fall at the same time, each of them has their own age of falling (between 6-12 years).
2. How long will the cement/filling last for milk and permanent teeth?
Ans: The fillings for milk and permanent teeth differ. The fillings for both the teeth usually last till the time the tooth is in the mouth. However, it greatly depends on how well the oral hygiene is maintained, regular dental follow-ups and the condition of the tooth at the time it was filled.
3. Will my child experience pain while getting his tooth filled?
Ans. No, it is a painless procedure.
